Whale Watching in the San Juan Islands

The San Juan Islands (off the coast of Washington state) were my favorite places to visit as a child. At the end of a long car ride, we rode the ferry over to the islands and stay a few days. Sometimes we could watch my grandparents dive or test dive suits. Sometimes, we would simply hang out and visit the quaint shops. My favorite memory is of a bookstore on Orcas Island. Given my fondness for the Islands, I’ve wanted to share the experience with my children, but have never done it. Now, I just found a good reason to do so – to build on Kate’s interest in ocean creatures!
